Patient Feedback on the Osteopath Network

A sore back, a locked shoulder, a stiff neck - these sorts of conditions affect almost all of us at some stage and are traditionally not well-treated by GPs. Increasingly patients from all kind of background are looking to Osteopaths for a more hands-on approach to treating these conditions with impressive results.

Osteopath Appointment Line has pulled together a selection of real life stories from it patients showing the impact and effectiveness of osteopathy intervention in treating both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal conditions.

Patient Name:

Warwick, London

Symptoms:

Painful shoulder soreness restricting ability to do my favourite sport which is rock climbing.

Treatment:

Saw the Osteopath you suggested and got some deep massage treatment as well as some stretching of the ligament. He also manipulated my back but very gently.

Feedback:

I felt immediate improvement after the first session. He gave me some stretching exercises to do everyday as well as some shoulder exercises for when I am at my desk. I did two further sessions and am now back at the climbing wall twice a week.

Patient Name:

Jane, Chiswick

Symptoms:

I was stupidly running to a meeting and tripped on the kerb. Two days later I woke up and could hardly move. It was so hard to get to work.

Treatment:

My GP told me I had whiplash even though the pain was in my lower back. I saw the osteo you put me onto and got an appointment the next day. She confirmed the whiplash diagnosis. I was massaged and we did lots of stretching of the lower back area. Finally she put her hand under my spine and rolled me on it. There was a little popping noise and that was the manipulation.

Feedback:

I was meant to go back for further treatment the following week but the back has improved very rapidly and it was not needed. Really, really good thanks.

Patient Name:

Steve, Enfield

Symptoms:

I have always had an extremely stiff neck - everyday for at least for 5 years. Finally I asked around and friends told that an Osteopath was worth a try.

Treatment:

I had a total of 4 visits over 8 weeks. Each time we did pretty much the same thing. Lots of massage and a little gentle manipulation. It was never painful and I always felt good and enjoyed the experience. I was asked to do some fairly straightforward exercises at home to build up some strength. They are not difficult and take about 15 minutes a day. I am still doing them.

Feedback:

Even after the first day I had more movement back. Each time my neck felt more and more free. I feel so much better now. Driving is easy and playing with the kids is a lot more fun.
